Running Routes

I haven't been running at my house latley because of the 2009 Track Season. For me, the track is not to boring; I still prefer the trails. But, the trails do get boring when you only have a half of mile trail on long runs. I end up running a couple of miles on the neigborhood on the other end of the nature trail. We average about 30-40 miles a week. I am glad that we do so many miles during the week because I need to do half marathon training runs during the weekend. I am still training for my half.

This is the way I go when I want some different views than my trail route.

The start of Track

The 2009 track season for CHS has just started.  We had our first meet on Feb 25, 2009.  We had a duel against one of the local schools, Cherokee High School.  On the girls side, they won by about 40 points, but on the boys side we lost by 4.  Chris A. got a new schools record for the 400, 52.27!  And Landry got 4:45 on his mile, 2:05.5 on the 800.  On that race he broke the 800 record by .14 middle seconds. There were some really fast guys in the 100, A.J. Redwine got 10.71. Over all, it was a great start to the 2009 season.

I did ok.  I got 2:37 for the 800.  I have never done that short of a distance before, and I could barely hold my arms up on the last 400. The second half of the race is all upper body.  That’s were the planks and pushups come in. In the 3200 I got 12:29, which is ok but for the season I am aiming for under 11:50.  I also did the high jump, but it didn’t work out so well. The starting height was taller than me.  But I did get half of my body over, then landed with the bar to my back.  At my school no-one has ever gotten over the bar in 8th grade so I am going to try to go for the record.

"Makau produces second fastest time ever, Tune clocks national record at RAK Half Marathon"

Patrick Makau won the RAK Half Marathon with an amazing time of 58:52. That's a 4:29 min mile pace. At the 5k mark he had a time of 13:40! That's amazing, and at the 10k mark, 27:42. That's 38 secounds off the American Record of a 10k. He is a prodigy in distance running. Makau said, "I think the conditions were perfect and I am really very happy with the result." And I sometimes wounder if people like Patrick Makau or Ryan Hall will become ultramarathon prodigy's? And would they do good in a Ultra?

These are the new Ecco shoes (below). They have a very flexible forefoot and an arch plate. This is a really new shoe that is being tested out, so there might be some little flaws. But, none the less I love the idea of a natural forefoot running shoe. It looks like the accomplishment that they want to be shown is similar to the Vibram Fivefingers (top). They both simulate forefoot and natural running. This type of running is getting more and more popular throughout the world. People are looking for better and more natural was to run. Once I got hooked on running, I could not stop trying to find better shoes and everything new that was associated with running. You will most likely find these shoes on the market in the near future if they mark out their little flaws.

Relay for Life

Playing Scattergories at 3 o'clock

My dad's company set up a booth at relay for life. We had a great time, but we did get a little tired. Alex (brother), Justin (friend), and I decided to take the 1 o'clock to I think 3 slot. I ran 15 miles, but we broke the time slot between us, 30 min slots. I did a series of speed and slow workouts. I wanted to take the hardest slots because I knew I would have to withstand all night runs when I am able to pick up ultra marathon training.

Nike + ipod

I'm able to hear my distance, pace, and time with my Nike Plus. While your on your run it speaks to and tells you the miles and distance left in the headphones, it's very convenient. But, if you feel the need to see you distance at a specific time, then you can just scroll, and you can see it.

2008 Cross Country Season

Corey (best girl runner-19:46 )

This season was very fun. It was the first season for me and my sister. She usually dosen't exercise much, so this was a big step for her, and she proved she had the stuff to compete. She got secound in county! And I think fourth in the first race of the season, we had no idea that she could accomplish soo much.

I did ok. PR 19:52 even though the result on the website says 20:10, coach recorded my time wrong. I think I am more of a long distance kind of guy, but I do suprising well in track distances. After this season I have a half marathon planned, then track season starts. I will be 6 weeks into my half marathon training when the track season starts. When the season starts we have pratice everyday so my long runs will be on Sunday (10-14 miles) and I will rest Saturday. There is no conformation on race dates so my schedule will be flexible ( depending on the races).

I seriously thought about wearing my Vibram fivefingers on one of the meets, but I decided not to risk it.
